A private home for family stories
Terms of Service
These terms set the ground rules for using Seven Kin Stories. The service is currently in beta, and its purpose is to help invited families share moments now and preserve stories for later.
Effective 30 August 2026 · Beta service
1. Accepting these terms
By creating an account, accepting a family invitation, creating a Kin or using Seven Kin Stories, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you cannot legally accept these terms on your own, you may use the service only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian.
2. Accounts, invitations and family spaces
- Use accurate account information and keep your sign-in method secure.
- A private invitation gives access only to the Kin named in that invitation.
- Each person should use their own verified account. Do not share verification codes or impersonate someone else.
- Your access and role may differ between Kins. Joining one Kin does not grant access to another.
- Tell us promptly if your email, account or invitation may have been compromised.
3. Family administrators
A household administrator may invite members, assign roles, link an invitation to an existing family profile, update membership details, revoke invitations, suspend or remove access, and manage the Kin’s settings and content. This is intended to cover family changes as well as situations such as a separation, divorce, mistaken invitation, lost email account or security concern.
Administrators must use these controls responsibly. Removal ends a person’s right to access that Kin, but it does not automatically transfer ownership of another person’s content or erase the family’s legitimate archive history.
4. Your stories and media
You keep ownership of the stories, photos, videos and other content you submit. You give Seven Kin Stories a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, process, resize, display and organise that content only as needed to operate the service, show it to authorised Kin members, support downloads or exports, and create family timelines, archives and monthly newsletters.
You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to share your content. Take particular care with private information, images of children, copyrighted material and content about people who did not post it themselves.
5. Respectful and lawful use
You must not use Seven Kin Stories to create, upload, solicit, distribute or support:
- child sexual abuse or exploitation material, non-consensual sexual content or sexual exploitation;
- credible threats, instructions to commit serious violence, stalking or targeted harassment;
- fraud, robbery, trafficking, malicious impersonation or other serious illegal activity;
- malware, attempts to break security, unauthorised access or abuse of invitations;
- content that infringes copyright, privacy, publicity or other rights; or
- material that is deliberately deceptive, hateful or intended to cause serious harm.
We may investigate reports, restrict or remove content, suspend accounts or Kins, preserve relevant records, and cooperate with lawful authorities where reasonably necessary for safety, security or legal compliance.
6. Reactions, comments, tags and notifications
Reactions, comments and people tags are visible within the relevant Kin and may create notifications for authors, tagged people or other members. Use these features respectfully and do not use them to expose private information.
7. Beta service and availability
Seven Kin Stories is still being tested. Features may change, pause or occasionally fail, and we do not promise uninterrupted access or that every draft, upload, notification or archive will always be available. Keep original copies of important photos, videos and documents. The service is not an emergency, legal-record or sole backup system.
8. Suspension, removal and ending use
You may stop using the service and may request account deletion. A Kin administrator may remove you from their Kin. We may restrict or end access where these terms are breached, a safety or security risk exists, the service is discontinued, or the law requires it. Where practical, we will try to give appropriate notice and a reasonable opportunity to retrieve your own content, but urgent safety or legal action may occur without advance notice.
9. Responsibility and liability
We will use reasonable care in providing the service. To the extent permitted by law, Seven Kin Stories is not responsible for indirect loss, family disputes, content another member shares, or loss caused by matters outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including rights under the Australian Consumer Law where it applies.
10. Changes, governing law and contact
We may update these terms as the beta develops. We will post the revised terms here and change the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated inside the service. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and disputes are subject to the courts and tribunals with jurisdiction there.
