Questions, answered clearly
A private home for the stories your family wants to keep.
Here is how Seven Kin Stories works, who can see your memories and what your family can expect as the private beta grows.
Frequently asked questions
01Why does Seven Kin Stories exist?
Family history is made from both the milestones everyone remembers and the smaller moments whose meaning grows with time. Too often, they remain scattered across chats, camera rolls and individual memories until they become difficult to find—or disappear altogether.
Seven Kin Stories gives those moments a private, lasting home—without turning family life into content-creation work—so families can return to them, reminisce together and create a legacy that helps future generations understand not only what happened, but who their family was and what life together felt like.
02What is Seven Kin Stories?
Seven Kin Stories is a private, invitation-only home for family stories, photographs and updates. It brings the moments your family chooses to keep into a lasting archive organised around people, places, months and generations.
03How is it different from family chats, photo albums or social media?
It is designed to complement them, not replace them. Chats and social spaces help families share life as it happens; Seven Kin Stories helps you choose what matters, preserve it and rediscover it later as newsletters, timelines, mapped memories and a living family constellation.
04What is a Kin?
A Kin is one private family space. It has its own members, stories, photographs and settings, and remains separate from every other Kin. One person can belong to more than one Kin using the same account.
05Who can see our stories and photographs?
Only people invited into that specific Kin can see its content. Seven Kin Stories has no public family profiles, follower counts or public search, and membership in one Kin does not provide access to another.
06Who owns the content our family shares?
You and your family contributors retain ownership of the content you submit. Seven Kin Stories receives only the permissions needed to store, display, organise and operate the service for your family, as explained in the Terms.
07Does Seven Kin Stories sell our data, show advertising or use our family content to train AI?
No. We do not sell personal information, display targeted advertising or use private family content to train generative AI models.
Seven Kin Stories currently has no AI features that process family stories, photos or videos. If we introduce an AI feature that uses family content, it will be optional and have privacy safeguards. We will explain what it does and what information it uses, and ask for your permission before use.
08How do invitations and family roles work?
A household admin invites relatives with a secure, single-use link that normally expires after seven days. Admins manage the Kin, members can contribute, and readers can enjoy the family archive without needing to post.
09Can we include children, deceased relatives, pets or people without an account?
Yes. A family can create profile-only people who appear in stories and relationships without receiving a login. This supports children, remembered relatives, pets and anyone who does not want or need an account.
10Can older or less tech-confident relatives use it?
That is a core design goal. Relatives can simply read and revisit stories, while a trusted family admin can help with invitations, profiles and corrections. The experience is being refined throughout the private beta.
11How do family newsletters and the archive work?
Each shared story joins the collection for its sharing month. The current month stays open for new stories; past months remain on your shelf. Browse the archive by month, calendar date, keyword or map location. For a person’s timeline and stories, open their Family Profile.
12Which languages are supported?
The Seven Kin Stories interface currently supports English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, German, Italian and Malay. Family stories remain in the language in which they were written unless the family edits them.
13Can I correct, download or delete our content?
Authors and Kin admins can edit stories or move them to Recently Deleted. They can restore them for 30 days unless permanently deleted sooner.
In My profile, members and admins can export their own stories from the selected Kin; admins can export all its stories. Download every ZIP part for the story text, data and available attached photos and videos.
Exports exclude standalone Kin Library uploads, full Family Profiles, Constellation relationships, events and media hidden for safety review. Only owners can delete an empty Kin directly. Contact support for account or established-Kin deletion requests.
14How much does Seven Kin Stories cost?
Seven Kin Stories is currently in private beta and final pricing has not been set. The intended model is a clear household subscription based on family membership and storage, with the price and limits shown before anyone is charged.
15What happens to our memories if we stop using the service or Seven Kin Stories closes?
Family archives should never depend on a single copy, so families should keep backups of irreplaceable originals. Seven Kin Stories intends to provide reasonable notice and a practical opportunity to retrieve content if the service is discontinued, where circumstances and applicable law allow. Story exports are available in My profile. Keep separate copies of original media and other family records too.
